Tonight we had our end-of-the-year Esports dinner and we said goodbye to our first set of seniors. We also inducted our first hall of famer. It was a nice moment.
It’s been a whirlwind with the Varsity program. I’m so very proud of all of them. This day has exhausted me, though. So just one quick thought for the day:
the odd odd and wonderful thing about being a professor is always being around promising young people. Knowing I can help them to define their lives in wherever small way I might is truly a gift.
But the saddest part is that there’s a timer on my relationships with most of them. They always know I am here, but they grow up and move on so fast. I’m so proud to see them spread their wings and fly, but sometimes they leave a big hole in the nest.
I’m gonna miss you, seniors.
Know that new first years will join the team, but they will never take your place. Phill has a memory like an elephant. He won’t ever forget you.
