Day 141: Reading the Cards

So I won’t claim to know how to read Tarot, but it’s interesting to me. Julie bought me a WWE tarot deck, because she’s awesome. So… I’m going to draw a card each day this week and see what doing mini-readings of them as reflections on my current work situation reveals. As an added bonus, I’m going to try to also read the wrestler into the equation.

Day 1’s draw is above. AJ Styles as Judgment.

So here’s what the Judgment card is supposed to mean:

Judgment tells a story of transition, but unlike Death or the Tower, it is not sudden change, or born of luck or intuition, but change that springs from reason. It signifies plans, often long in the making, coming to fruition. If it points towards the future, it may also speak towards the nature of the change; if there is a choice that needs to be made, ruminate and let your mind guide the decision. Logic, in this case, is a better guide than intuition. Be prepared to make a major decision in your life, likely one that will shape the next chapter of your life. According to Trusted Tarot, anyway.

That makes sense. I’ve been in job limbo for a bit due to reassignment and some reworking of my home unit. That transition is coming to an end, and I at least in theory have some decisions to make. As always, I’ve let logic drive me through that process because emotions in the academy are no-nos.

So the card fits well.

What about the wrestler, though?

AJ Styles is an interesting figure. For years he toiled in relative obscurity in TNA where he was a fantastic wrestler in a tiny pond. He was used to put people over, was put over, etc. He went to Japan, where he had great success with the Bullet Club. But it wasn’t until he was announced at the Royal Rumble and walked into a WWE arena that he’d made it. Now he’s “the face that runs the place.” The Phenomenal One.

It took him longer than it should have to land where he belonged. But now he has arrived. And “they don’t want none.”

I think that fits, too.

Big bucks, tomorrow. No Roman Reigns card!
