I skipped one class in my college career.
It was an exam period, and I convinced the professor to let me take the exam early. But I skipped class because a friend of mine had scored us front row tickets to WCW Nitro, and I wanted to go so I could attempt to meet one of my wrestling heroes, Vampiro (I know– I picked a bad hero, but remember, I also worked briefly for the Ultimate Warrior). I did, as it turns out, get to talk to Vampiro that night, and we met Booker T and another of my favorites, Fit Finlay (who bumped into me and said “you’re a big ‘ne, aren’t ya?”).
The highlight of the night, though, was that during one of the spots at ringside, Jeff Jarrett and Booker T mixed up their spot a little, and I ended up taking a balsa guitar to the head (it grazed along Booker T and hit my shoulder/head). It didn’t hurt– it was made to blast off a person without doing any damage. And I still have a chunk of it somewhere.
But the crazy part is that– as I didn’t realize at the time– that spot was on TV. So some of our friends back in town saw me taunt Jeff Jarrett after taking a guitar shot. I technically no-sold his gimmick, I guess.
It was funny, and fun, but the sad part is that it ruined my alibi for why I needed to miss class. I forget what my excuse was.
Oh well. I did get called “Slapnuts” on TV. That’s something, right?
