Somewhere in Minneapolis, Stepon Diggs is having the best day of his life.
This happened, just a few minutes ago, on national TV.
I’m overjoyed for him, and for all the Vikings fans who have waited so long for their team to make this run. Having been a lifer with the Colts, I remember what our Super Bowl run was like. It’s a special time for a fan.
But what struck me in this moment was thinking about how refreshing this moment is in light of the political rancor of the past year or so. I mean even this weekend we had reports that we messed up and told people they were about to be attacked. We also are in the midst of “Shithole Countrygate.” We need a nice moment.
And here it is. Young guy, strong faith, deep connection to his family and his team. The play never should have been possible, but as we know with sports, miracles happen.
Happy for Diggs. Happy for the Vikings. Just generally… happy. It’s a feelgood moment. We need more of those.
