Today, just a quick hitter. I was talking to some of my students about gamer tags and identity. I have a newish one, as I asked my wife to suggest something other than “DrPhill.” I landed on Murderof1, which is a nice sort of play on words but also sticks to the blackbird mythology that I’ve alway ms used in games.
My my first WoW toon had the name Raven. As you can guess, you have to get there early to get a name like that. But I didn’t want to delete that toon when I started maining my DK. So I thought “how about Ravenous? Like he hungers.” But that was also taken. And so that day I took out one letter and became known as Ravenos.
On that same server I was Raven, Craven, Kraven, Draven and Graven. Everyone from that time period called me “Rav.”
I guess origin stories are pretty tight.
