If you have any friends who are politically active in either direction, you’ve probably already seen this.
If you’re having trouble cutting through the careful (ha, I made a funny) rhetoric, let me translate it for you. This is basically what it says:
We’re the NRA, and we did some stuff you don’t like, such as supporting murderers and blaming those of you who want safety for ruining our country. Lately, we noticed that occasionally liberal journalists do what FOX news has done for over a decade, and what conservative radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh have done for at least the last 25 years, and whoa! You can’t do what we do. And you can’t be upset and have a valid point, because only ‘Merica minded white folks can use violence to solve their problems. Your rebellion isn’t American. It’s not cool like when we threw tea in the water and slaughtered Indigenous peoples. It’s not awesome like when we bought people from Africa because we didn’t want to labor in our fields. Your rebellion is so not cool. So we’re going to punch you. With bullets. And we have plenty of guns, because we’re the NRA and that’s pretty much all we stand for.
I’m just going to say it…
If you don’t want people to come at you, maybe stop being hatemongers. Also, stop pretending that people who disagree with you are “destroying” truth. You haven’t known truth in your political pocket of the universe for a long time. Since this last January 20th your leader has been the anti-truth equation. He’s so insecure he came at the co-host of a supposedly “terrible” news show that is “awful” but he watched then felt the need, as the supposed leader of the free world, to waste his time Tweeting about.
All I can say, on a day when I’m enjoying personal victories and can’t get over the stupidity of national politics is this: I have known, since my earliest days on this planet, that there is a sort of person who has an NRA bumper sticker on their car that would shoot at me for my beliefs. It’s happened. Luckily for me I was chased by one of the members of the NRA who is not also talented with his gun, and he missed. He was the sort who wouldn’t make our Esports team.
But if you think sending a woman to stare into the camera and threaten us is scary… you lack the understanding of how we’ve felt about you for these many, many years.
We already know some of you would shoot us if you could.
